BOI Application Support in Thailand

Expand your business in Thailand with the right incentives. We help foreign and local investors prepare, submit, and secure Board of Investment (BOI) promotion with confidence.

What is BOI?

The Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) is the government agency that promotes investment in the country by offering incentives to businesses in targeted industries. Approved companies can receive benefits such as corporate income tax exemptions, import duty relief on machinery, land ownership rights, easier work permits for foreign staff, and, for many promoted activities, majority or full foreign ownership. In short, BOI promotion can make setting up and running a business in Thailand faster, simpler, and more cost-effective.

Who Qualifies?

Your business may be eligible for BOI promotion if:

  • Your business activity is on the BOI’s list of promoted activities, such as manufacturing, technology, digital services, R&D, renewable energy, or regional headquarters.

  • Your project meets the minimum investment, which is generally THB 1 million (excluding the cost of land and working capital) unless specified otherwise on the list of activities.

  • For new projects, the debt-to-equity ratio does not exceed 3 to 1.

  • Your project uses modern technology and processes and meets environmental standards.

  • Larger projects can provide a feasibility study when required by the BOI.

Not sure if you qualify? We’ll assess your eligibility for free.

The BOI Application Process

  1. Eligibility assessment – We review your business plan and match it to the right BOI promoted activity and incentive category.

  2. Preparing documents – We prepare your application, project details, financial projections, and supporting documents.

  3. Online submission – The application is filed through the BOI’s e-Investment Promotion system.

  4. BOI interview – You (or your representative) present the project to a BOI officer and answer their questions.

  5. BOI review and approval – The BOI evaluates your project and issues its decision.

  6. Company registration – If not already done, your Thai company is registered with the Department of Business Development.

  7. Promotion certificate – After approval, you submit the required documents and receive your official BOI promotion certificate.

  8. Post-approval setup – Work permits, visas, machinery import approvals, and ongoing compliance reporting.

Typical Timelines

Every project is different, but here is what you can usually expect:

Eligibility check and document preparation: 1–3 weeks, depending on how quickly information is available.

BOI interview: typically scheduled within 10 working days of filing.

BOI review: projects up to 200 million THB (excluding land and working capital) take 40 working days, 200 to 2,000 million THB take 60 working days, and above 2,000 million THB take 90 working days.

Promotion certificate: promoted companies submit the online application and supporting documents for the certificate within 6 months, and it is issued in 10 working days.

Note: Timelines can extend if the BOI requests extra information. Complete, well-prepared applications move fastest, and that’s where we help.

What is the minimum investment required?
For most activities, the minimum is THB 1 million, excluding land and working capital. Some activities, such as certain services or large-scale manufacturing, have higher requirements.

How long does the whole process take?
The BOI review usually takes 40 to 90 working days depending on your investment size. Including preparation and certificate issuance, most clients complete the process within a few months.
